Why promote an affiliate product?  To make money, of course.  So how do I pick a product to promote?  Be wise in your selection process.  This is where I will try to help you.  It does take some time but in the end it will be worth your while.

Pick a product you have an interest in.  You will find it easier to write or talk about, i.e. videos or posts you write to promote your product. You can go to Google Keyword Tools to search your niche to see how popular it is and how much competition you have.  I would avoid highly competitive niches as it would be difficult to drive traffic to your site.
